5,8 grades earthquake was recorded today in Ecuador
This morning in several provinces of Ecuador a strong earthquake of 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale was recorded at 6:19:52. In Guayaquil, Daule, Duran, and Milagro the quake was felt strongly. With less intensity it was felt in Quevedo, Bahía de Caráquez, Portoviejo, Riobamba, Ambato and Cuenca. In the capital, Quito, according to reports of social networks, a mild earth tremor was felt.
The Geophysical Institute (IG) reported that the quake took place at a depth of 70.98 km, at a latitude of 2.14 degrees and a -79.86 lenght, while the United States Geological Survey (USGS) indicated that the epicenter of the telluric movement was in Yaguachi and its intensity was 5.3 degrees. According to ECU911, there have been no casualties or damage recorded.
