9.4 hectares of Mocoli Island on auction
The state maintains a piece of land of 9.4 hectares in the Macoli Island that will soon come to auction. The overgrown area is on the north of the island, which can be accessed through a bridge located in the km 5.8 of the Samborondón Avenue.
This property was awarded by the disposal committee of the Housing Management Service of the Public Sector (Inmobiliar).
The base price for the auction is $ 7’802.929,80, so every square meter would cost from $ 83. The applicant must submit a guarantee equal to 10% of the base price. Inmobiliar will receive bids on 15 and 16 September.
President Rafael Correa announced in 2013 he would build a popular housing plan on the island. But in response to the negative of the Guayaquil and Samborondon councils, the project was canceled.
The island is 306.85 acres and has 25 owners. With the 1999 crisis, several lands passed to the State in lieu of payment. 200 families are currently living there, according to a person close to the administration of the Mocoli Island.
