Attorneys Campaign to Arrest the Pope
Posted On 13 Sep 2011
A campaign to arrest the Pope for covering up sexual abuse of minors by priests when he makes his arrival to Britain has been organized by a group of lawyers.
Richard Dawkins, an activist group leader, said the goal is to suspend the planned papal visit to the UK next September, the first by a pontiff to this country since 1982.
The attorneys Geoffrey Robertson and Mark Stephens considered three options: ask the British prosecutors to initiate prosecution of the Pope starting their own civil complaint or refer the case to the International Criminal Court.
The Vatican ruled out any possibility of the Pope resigning due to the scandals.
