Mitt Romney Wins Florida Polls
Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate earned a crucial victory in the Florida primary after defeating his main opponent Newt Gingrich. Now Romney reestablished himself as the party’s frontrunner to take on Barack Obama in November.
With 98% accounted votes, Romney defeated Gingrich with a massive 46,4% against his rival 31,9%. Meanwhile the social conservative Rick Santorum came third with 13,3%, finally Texas congressman Ron Paul was fourth on 7%.
With victories in two of the first four contests, New Hampshire and Florida, the Republican put the setback he suffered in South Carolina behind him. During his speech Romney did not make any comments against Gingrich like he previously has. Instead the Republican frontrunner criticized the Obama administration. (AV)
