Sex scandal in Cartagena involves US Secret Service

Last Wednesday the Secret Service announced the departure of three agents related to the prostitution scandal of last week in Cartagena brothel Pleyclub.

The agency tried to handle the scandal and in a statement said that one agent is expected to resign, another, a supervisor, would retire. A third supervisor, has been recommended for firing but will have an opportunity to appeal.

In all, 11 Secret Service agents and 10 military personnel are suspected of being involved of visiting strip clubs, requesting prostitutes and heavy drinking on April 11. This occurred two nights before president Barack Obama arrived to Colombia for the VI Summit of the Americas.

Now the Secret Service agency and the Defence Department are each conducting investigations of the alleged misconduct. The remaining 8 agents are on administrative leave and their clearances have been suspended. (AV)
