India Tests a Long-Range Rocket
This Thursday India tested a long-range rocket that would have the capacity to reach any point in a 5,000 km radius. The Indian government pointed out that this trial has been a success. The rockets power could transport a nuclear warhead that weighs more than a ton to the territory of China.
The missile called Agni (fire in the Indian language) number 5, would be fully operational between the years of 2014 and 2015. The rocket measures 17 and half meters of height and weighs 50 tons and has a cost of 366 million of Euros.
This is a long-range weapon comparable with the ones owned by the United States, Russia, France, the United Kingdom and China. The Agni V is a significant step of the efforts of India to outweigh the regional control of China. (AV)
