Ecuadorian Government Emphasizes Three Accepted Recommendations on Human Rights

The Human Rights Council from the United Nations, gave recommendations to Ecuador

The Ecuadorian Government specially accepted three of the 67 recommendations of the Universal Periodic Exam (EPU for its spanish acronym) outcome, the country gave before the United Nations’ board of Human Rights, last Monday.

The Troika (conformed by the Republic of the Congo, Cuba and Switzerland) was commissioned to build the final report according to the observations that 73 nations made to the Ecuadorian State.

In this group are recommendations on human rights about freedom of speech, access to education, civic participation, among others; order to eradicate child labor, trafficking, discrimination, gender violence, and others.

Accepted Recommendations:

1. Children’s rights

Ratify the Facultative Protocol of the Convention on Children Rights on individual complaints (Chile). An early ratification of the new Human Rights instrument of that Convention regarding communications procedures (Slovakia).

2. International Criminal Court

Ratify Kampala amendments to the Rome Statute (Liechtenstein), of the International Criminal Court. It is about the fight against impunity for the most serious crimes and to ensure respect for international justice.

3. Decent domestic work

Consider ratifying ILO Convention 189 on decent work for employees and domestic servants (Philippines). This convention was adopted within the International Labour Organization (OIT for its spanish acronym) on June 16, 2011.
