DRAE includes 'Marriage' as Same-Sex Union
The Royal Spanish Academy (DRAE for its Spanish acronym) approved the inclusion of the word Marriage as the union of two people of the same sex.
Marriage: “In some legislation, a union of two persons of the same sex, concluded by certain rites or legal formalities to establish and maintain a community of life and interests.”
This is one of the 1697 amendments done to the fifth revision of DRAE since 2001, which is the 22nd edition of the Spanish reference dictionary. The next edition is scheduled for 2014. The process is always open and is approved by 22 academies.
