In response to a piece published on the British tabloid The Sun, Argentinean government assured that Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner will fly in a Chapman Freeborn plane, rented for $880 000.

The tour was scheduled to go from January 14 to January 21, including the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and Vietnam. However, the addition of Cuba as a destination makes those dates uncertain.

The Gocernment will rent a plane to avoid the demands of bond owners who are claiming against and can result in an  impounding of the official presidential plane.

The presidency secretary, Oscar Parilli, explained that “they were presented with six offers, all of them of very similar value, and decided to hire Chapman Freeborn, a British company operating from the Gatwick Airport in England, because it was the most convenient from an operational, economic and financial point of view.”

The price of the rent “includes all costs and expenditures of a trip to four different countries, and is close to 20 percent higher that the cost of using the  presidential aircraft, Tango-01.”

Argentinian government had already hired Chapman Freeborn in 2010 and 2011 for presidential tours in Guyana, Madrid, Paris, Barcelone and Cannes.

Parilli also added that Rupert Murdoch, owner of The Sun, had been “condemned for the publication of false and fabricated news related to actors, personalities and politicians.”
