“I think it’s a disgrace for sports to have an athlete like this”: Djokovic
After his victory against Czech Radek Stepanek in the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic commented sharply about Lance Armstrong’s last declarations.
The ex-cyclist admitted during an interview for Oprah Winfrey that he used doping substances during his career.
“It would be ridiculous for him to decline and refuse all the charges because it has been proven,” Djokovic said. “They have like a thousand proofs that he’s positive. I think it’s a disgrace for sports to have an athlete like this. He cheated on many people around the world with his career, with his life story.”
The top-ranked tennis player added he had lost faith in cycling, as many people did. According to him “they should take all his titles away”, the seven Tours de France winner deserves to “suffer.”
