With the new five-month per semester mode, instead of the three month, the reunification of small campuses in ten-year basic  school years beside the implementation of the first year for smaller children, the Ecuadorian coast starts this Thursday May 2nd its class period 2013-2014.

Classes mobilize thousands of families in the preparations, which involve buying school supplies, uniforms, food for snacks and school transportation contracts.

Although in Guayaquil, the largest city in the country, schools are almost ready, in other capitals like Esmeraldas, Portoviejo and Babahoyo, and especially the rural areas, must deal with the ravages left by the heavy rain;  flooded buildings or impassable access for children and teachers, which has mobilized equipment and public machinery and the work of teachers and parents to start the new school year 2013-2014.
