Exploitation in the Yasuni continues to cause manifestations

Posted On 15 Oct 2013

yasuni23The different reactions around the exploitation of oil in the areas of the Yasuni national park  continue, among them various social sectors and citizens who have made eleven requests for the popular consultation that must collect signatures of support before  the constitutionality of the questions posed are approved.

The CNE and the Constitutional Court records indicate that five of the consultation requests were already notified to complete the demand, so they must collect signatures of support from citizens and have the favorable report of the Electoral Council, prior to the issuance of a binding criterion of constitutionality of the raised questions.

On the other hand, around a hundred of Amazonian women who began to walk on Saturday from Puyo with destination to Quito, arrived yesterday before noon to Ambato, and despite the tiredness they kept shouting slogans against the exploitation of the Yasuni.

“We are Amazonian women defending the Amazon” “No more oil exploitation” “No more death, Long Live the Yasuni,” said the females.

Once in Quito, where they are  expected to arrive tomorrow, the demonstrators will present their opposition stance before President Rafael Correa and the National Assembly.

Kausac Sacha Wuarmi, of the Sisag nationality, pointed out that they are defending  healthy land and clean water, no pollution of all the natural resources that exist in the Amazon.
