44.1% of Ecuadorians in Spain have been nationalized

According to the electoral roll released by the National Statistics Institute (INE for its Spanish acronym), 207,909 of a total of 471,407 Ecuadorians living in Spain, have the status of Spaniards born in Ecuador.

We must also consider the 263,498 people who continue to rank as Ecuadorian, of which only 15,134 were not born in Ecuador.

As it should be emphasized that under Article 8 of the Constitution of Ecuador, Ecuadorians are also “persons born abroad of a naturalized Ecuadorian mother or father. While they are minors, they shall retain the Ecuadorian nationality unless they express otherwise.”
