Venezuelan kidnapped journalist is found safe and sound

Posted On 14 Apr 2014

After eight days in captivity, Nairobi Pinto, journalist of private television network Globovision, was found this Monday in Cua, near the state of Miranda. “She is already in our power. Nairobi Pinto is safe and sound,” wrote Douglas Rico, deputy director of the Body of Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC for its Spanish acronym), on his Twitter account.

Pinto is correspondent chief at Globovision and would have been kidnapped on last Sunday April 6 at the door of her house and in the presence of family and friends, who could not identify her captors.

The reporter noted that in these days of “nightmare you were present (referring to journalists and media ) because I did get the news, they read them to me, (referring to her captors). It’s not easy being here, talking to you first rather than with the rest of my family.”

Regarding her captors, she said she did not know how many were they “because I always had my eyes closed. They treated me well, never touched me, never mistreated me, I ate three meals, never spoke before me, I could never see their faces because I always had my eyes closed,” she stressed.
