Santos´s campaign adviser resigns after polemic with narcos

The Venezuelan strategist Juan José Rendon, resigned yesterday to the re-election campaign of President Juan Manuel Santos after it was made public that he was contacted by the imprisoned drug capo, Javier Antonio Calle Serna.

According to the Capo, in a judicial declaration conducted in December 2013 at the Colombian Attorney, which was unveiled last Sunday by the newspaper El Espectador, he and other big Colombian drug capos contacted Rendón between 2010 and 2011 to take a proposal to the Santos´s Government that included the disarmament of their criminal structures, the narcotrafficking abandonment and its surrender to justice, to not be extradited.

The seriousness of the complaint is that the narco assured he delivered $ 12 million to Rendon.

For his part, Rendon denied these accusations although he recognized that in 2011 he met with lawyers of these drug dealers and ´he simply acted as a channel to bring this correspondence and he gave it by his own to the prosecutor for its analysis.´

Upon learning of the news, the Colombian Attorney announced that it was opened a judicial inquiry to determine the veracity of the revelations made by the Colombian media.
