Ecuador and Qatar sign bilateral agreements
President Rafael Correa and the Qatar Emir, Tamin bin Hamad al-Zani, signed this Wednesday October 22 in Doha two agreements and a memorandum of economic and information cooperation, to strengthen bilateral relations.
Among the agreements are: avoiding the double taxation, preventing fiscal evasion on income taxes and the exemption of visas for holders of diplomatic and special passports between the Government of Ecuador and Qatar.
Regarding the memorandum, it is stipulated the state the cooperation in the field of information and the exchange of news between the official Qatar News Agency, QNA, and the National Communications Secretariat Ecuador (Secom).
During the President’s visit, which ends on Thursday, October 23, Ecuadorian companies will hold meetings with their Qatariscounterparts to boost economic cooperation. As in statements to the press at the Qatari capital, Correa stressed that in these sectors there are “great investment opportunities and cooperation.”
