Associate Judges of the CNJ will be renewed by thirds

The 21 associate judges of the National Court of Justice (CNJ for its Spanish acronym) will be subjected to an assessment and will be partially replaced by thirds (7 seats), a process that began last January 13 after the adoption of the rules.

The Council of Justice (CJ) indicated it would end in early March.

The Constitution determines that the associate judges are selected with the same processes and have equal responsibilities and incompatibility regime like judges who are renewed by thirds.

The President of the CJ, Gustavo Jalkh, said that the progressive evaluation for the national judges and now the associate judges was already scheduled.

“The associate judges are under the same regime of judges from the CNJ, therefore, they are subjected to evaluation and renewal by thirds established by the Constitution,” he said.
