US missionaries deported from Venezuela are already back to their country

Four missionaries of the Evangelical Free Bethel Church in North Dakota who were arrested last Saturday in Venezuela “for several days,” according to the AP agency, are already back to their country. The news was confirmed by the press director of the US Embassy in Caracas, Glenn Guimond, who explained that they left the country in a plane and are forbidden to return to Venezuela in the next two years.

A spokesman for the US Senator John Hoeven assured that, according to the State Department, the missionaries “were deported for not having the proper visa.”

The relations between US and Venezuela are steadily deteriorating, while President Nicolás Maduro continues to point that countryby the economic and social problems the South American nation faces.

On Saturday Maduro announced he will reduce the staff number of the embassy in Caracas, he will limit the activities of US diplomats in Venezuela and will require visas to Americans who want to enter his country.
