The Interior Ministry removed 97 police officers from the institution for collaborating with organized crime

Interior Minister José Serrano announced on Tuesday the dismissal of 97 police officers, for being linked to organized crime gangs.

This was written by the official on its Twitter account: ” today is again a tough day for our National Police, we will remove 97 police members from the Institution, for handing sensitive information to organized crime gangs, for involvement in criminal actions with organized crime gangs, for having received benefits from organized crime.”

Furthermore, he mentioned that five other officers are under investigation for allegedly stealing money to a drug plane that crashed in Pedernales (Manabi) in May 2012.
