Dialogue on elimination of visa to enter the EU
This Friday the foreign ministers of Spain and Ecuador discussed about the request of Ecuadorian citizens to be exempted from a short stay visa to enter the European Union.
Ricardo Patiño, Ecuador’s foreign minister, met with José Manuel García-Margallo, his Spanish counterpart, to review bilateral relations, whose condition was rated “very good”, and discuss progress in the EU-Latin America relationship with a view to the next EU-CELAC Summit, to be held in Brussels on 10 and 11 June.
Patiño said that Margallo took note of Ecuador´s formal request for its citizens who wish to access Europe to not be required a short stay visa. Both ministers were pleased with the adhesion of Ecuador to the Multiparty Trade Agreement with the EU, conducted in 2014, which means that Ecuadorian agricultural products except bananas come into European territory with zero tariffs.
