Petroecuador seeks to import light crude for the Esmeraldas refinery

The public company Petroecuador confirmed, in a statement, it analyzes purchasing 110,00 barrels of light crude in the international market to optimize the performance of the rehabilited Esmeraldas refinery.
“Once the plant is rehabilitated, it would find its maximum performance with quality crude of 28 degrees API and low sulfur content, a higher quality that the crude oil we have available and that has been processed in recent years in the refinery. In that sense, the logical technically and corporately, is trying to provide the best oil with low sulfur to the rehabilitated Esmeraldas refinery to get the most benefit according to the characteristics of its design,” justified the oil company.
The manager of EP Petroecuador, Carlos Pareja Yannuzzelli, told El Universo daily that at the moment the Ecuadorian oil company only seeks to measure the interest of bidders who could sell this oil. In case there are bidders, then the convenience of prices and terms of financing will be analized.
