Ecuador astonished by sentence of Leopoldo Lopez in Venezuela

The opposition politician Leopoldo Lopezwas sentenced to 13 years, 9 months, 7 days and 12 hours in prison for his responsibility in the 2014 anti-government protests that left 43 dead.
Lopez, 44 years old, will remain detained in the Ramo Verde military prison, on the outskirts of Caracas, where he is being held from February last year.
Lopez´s imprisonment has been considered by human rights defenders, former Ibero-American presidents and political leaders as proof that the Government of Nicolas Maduro holds “political prisoners.”
