Ecuadornews:

For today it is foreseen that the four organisms that watched the development of the electoral day emit their preliminary reports. They were in 11 provinces. Except for the small inconveniences registered in the installation of the Voting Receiving Boards (JRV), normality prevailed on yesterday’s election day in the country, according to the first evaluations of international observers.

The 118 members of the missions of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), the World Association of Electoral Organizations (A-Web) and the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (Uniore), were displaced in 11 provinces .

The Mexican Leonardo Valdés, head of the OAS mission, which includes nine experts, said that the day began with normal situations, this is delays in the installation of the JRV. “Until now we have nothing to worry about,” he said, noting that today they will issue their first report of the elections. “The final report is delivered to the Permanent Council of the OAS in Washington.”

Valdés indicated that yesterday was a special date for the organization, since on February 4, 1962 the OAS carried out the first electoral observation mission and it was in Costa Rica. The Unasur delegation, composed of 23 people and directed by Roberto Conde, toured precincts in Pichincha, Guayas, Azuay, Manabí, Esmeraldas and Orellana.

Through a statement, he indicated that in the tours conducted “the members of the Mission highlighted the tranquility and free movement of citizens.” The Chilean, Patricio Santamaría, said Unasur will present the preliminary report with a generic consideration of the referendum and consultation.

A final report will be presented within 15 days after the proclamation of the results. In the same way, the delegation of Uniore, which has 13 observers, plans to speak on Monday. Yolima Carrillo, from the so-called Conducida mission, president of the National Electoral Council of Colombia, who worked yesterday in Guayaquil along with the mission of Uniore, spoke of normality, both in the installation of meetings and in the voting.

Until yesterday afternoon, the mission of A-Web, which is composed of five people, did not issue any pronouncement. Observation tasks were also carried out by about 40 members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country and other organizations.

Foreign Minister Maria Fernanda Espinosa said that the elections have taken place in accordance with what President Moreno requested of the Ecuadorians, “in peace, with harmony, in calm and with a deep democratic spirit.” (I)
