Judge asks for the red diffusion of Interpol against former head of the Senain

The Ecuadorian Justice calls for a global search of the former national secretary of intelligence, Pablo Romero, who is being investigated for the alleged kidnapping of politician Fernando Balda.

This decision was taken by the judge of the Criminal Chamber of the National Court of Justice, Daniela Camacho. From her office, the authorities of the Government and the Police were asked to request a red alert to Interpol to arrest the former head of the Senain.

According to the statutes of Interpol, the interested State must communicate the request for the search and capture of the researched. This request will then be reviewed so that the principles of non-intervention in matters of a political, military, religious or racial nature are not violated.

The red diffusion is Interpol’s maximum alert and since its broadcast all the member countries of this system can act in the capture of the suspect. Romero was included in the trial after the State Attorney General’s Office argued that there are sufficient indications of his participation in the alleged kidnapping of Balda, which occurred in August 2012 in Bogotá (Colombia).

In addition to the former head of the Senain, the ex-commander of the police, Fausto Tamayo and three agents of the National Directorate of Police Intelligence (DGI) are accused.

Balda said that the five are not the only ones involved in his plagiarism. He accuses the former president of the Republic, Rafael Correa, as one of the main suspects. In his Twitter account, Balda said that there is evidence of the “intellectual authorship” of the former president.

Correa said that the Prosecutor’s Office is preparing the ground to involve him. “Ecuador is outside of any Rule of Law. They appointed – in an absolutely illegal way – a prosecutor to finger, with the slogan of condemning me for whatever. Indeed, without any evidence, I will be linked in case “Balda”, for … kidnapping! Soon they will respond for so much abuse, “he wrote yesterday on his Twitter. The judicial investigation of the case is still ongoing and the Attorney General’s Office summoned several former ex-commanders and former police commanders to testify. (I)
