E-commerce is prospering in Ecuador

Posted On 13 Sep 2019

Grocery shopping without having to go physically, avoid driving, parking, and lines to pay, is now possible via the internet. In Ecuador, there are already supermarkets and companies that offer applications to make purchases from home.

This is one of the issues in vogue around business via internet that was presented yesterday at the e-Commerce Day, which found that these initiatives win the market.

One of the representatives of this type of business is Tipti, a home-based supermarket service company.

Pierangela Sierra, its manager, explained that this venture, which was born in mid-2017, now has 12,000 recurring customers who make their purchases by this means. You only have to enter with your cell phone or computer and order the purchase of the products that appear in the lists.

The company, which works with most of the country’s supermarkets, developed the application and has trained its buyers, who are all gourmet, to ensure freshness and care in the products.

Meanwhile, the Aunt chain also has its own online sales system.

The logistics company that assists them is Urban. Francisco González, the commercial manager, explained that this B2C modality is being very well received and that they can deliver in 24 hours in main cities and in 48 in peripheral sites.

Juan Carlos Otatti, president of the Ecuadorian Chamber of Electronic Commerce, said the country is “maturing” the digital experience. And that in 2018 these sales totaled $ 1 billion.

According to Marcos Pueyrredon, president of the e-Commerce Institute, this year Ecuador stands out as one of the countries where the offer of this type of services has grown the most.

In addition to the growth, it has been found that companies are providing a positive shopping experience to users, which also reinforces demand.
