To boost the production of craft beer, representatives of the sector hold the Middle of the World Beer Cup, which ends on July 23, 2023.

Craft beer production in Ecuador has reached 6.4 million liters per year, according to the Association of Craft Breweries (Asocierv).
Craft beer production has increased 36% compared to 2021, when 4.7 million liters were produced.
The production of more than six million liters of craft beer has represented USD 25.5 million for those who are engaged in this economic activity, which is concentrated in 12 cities in Ecuador.
Most of the businesses, 32%, are in Quito. They are followed by Guayas, with 13.88%; and Loja, with 10.20%.
The increase in craft beer production is due to a number of factors, including:
- Reactivation of social activities, after the removal of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Incursion of more enterprises.
- Foreign investment.
Beer Cup
In this context, the Middle of the World Beer Cup is held in Quito, from July 17 to July 23, 2023.
In the event , 700 registered beers from Latin America are registered, which have been qualified by 27 international judges.
The best beers in the competition, from Ecuador and Latin America, will be announced on July 22, in the Middle of the World City.
It will be done during the Gastrofest, a fair that seeks to position Ecuador as a gastronomic destination.
