A fine for those who do not collect the faeces of their pets
The County Council of Guayaquil approved in the first debate of the Support Ordinance to the Integral Protection of Pets, which focuses on improving the quality of life for dogs and cats. On Thursday August 25, 2016 the second and final debate of the legislation will be approved. The provision provides education campaigns for pet owners, cadastral surveys and census of animals, sterilization, vaccination and the creation of a protection center.
The ordinance also stipulates that dog owners that do not immediately collect the depositions of such animals in public places and all over the city will be punished with USD 20. In case of recidivism, the punishment will be USD 60. It also establishes that the itinerant trading of dogs and cats, or commercialization in shops will be punishable with 50% of the unified basic salary (USD 183). In case of recidivism the punishment shall be a unified basic salary (USD 366).
