A rise in the price of rice has been registered

The amount of rice that is distributed in retail markets has not changed; however, the price has experienced an increase 15 days ago, traders said.
The increase in prices of the product, according to several enterprises, would be because of the pests affecting the sector in 2014, the poor harvest this year and the exporting of the the gramineae to Colombia.
The National Storage Unit (UNA-EP) said yesterday in a statement it “has enough strategic reserve of milled rice, to ease any abnormal situation produced within the national market.”
He added that “if necessary, the company will distribute rice directly through retail distribution centers and supermarkets, in order to regulate the price.”
