Prosecutor Chiriboga starts the process to extradite Delgado and Duzac
The General Attorney of the State expects the written judgment of the National Court of Justice (CNJ for its Spanish acronym) to intensify with the United States (US) and Argentina the extradition of the former president of the board of the Central Bank and cousin of President Rafael Correa, Pedro Delgado, and Argentine citizen Gaston Duzac, convicted of bank embezzlement last Sunday.
On Sunday, after ten days of the adjudication hearing, the Criminal Chamber of the CNJ found criminally responsible for the allegedly irregular granting of a credit against eight people, six of them as material authors and two of concealing.
Prosecutor Galo Chiriboga plans to meet with US Ambassador in Ecuador, Adam Namm, to inform him about the sentence against Delgado, who traveled to that country in December 2012 to attend the wedding of his son and did not return to the country.
“The cases of bank embezzlement do not require the presence of the accused for trial and are inalienable, so that the State will have enough time to bring these people back to Ecuador,” said Prosecutor Chiriboga.
