Agency for quality assurance of health is created by President Correa

On 25 June this year the Ecuadorian president, through Decree 703, ordered the creation of an agency for the Quality Assurance of Health.

The body is assigned to the Ministry of Health and will be responsible for monitoring and control the quality of health not only in public and private sector institutions, but also in those that are considered community services, prepaid health care and of health personnel.

El Decree gives a six months term for the Agency to be implemented and become operational. But while that happens, the Ministry of Health will be responsible for complying with the control processes of health services in the country.
