Agreements between government and Venezuelan opposition are highlighted by Patino
Ecuador’s Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patino, stressed yesterday the number of agreements reached “in just three hours of conversation” between the Government of Venezuela and the Democratic Unity Table (MUD), that carry out talks to resolve the political crisis that face the country.
The Ecuadorian Minister said that “there was much coincidence” between the government and the opposition on the creation of a Truth Commission.
“The government had defined which would be a legislative committee,” but proposed that the MUD has a wider conformation and “finally agreed they can find a matching point on that, which could be extended,” said Patiño.
They also discussed how to achieve “acting with absolute justice” in relation to detained persons, and proposed that people “who are responsible for crimes, of very serious effects on human rights” shall be placed under the corresponding processes, said Patiño.
