Alcohol prohibition law applies today from midday
This afternoon the so called Alcohol Prohibition law will be in effect, and will rule until 12:00 am of next Monday. The measure was ordered for sectional elections that start today with the vote of persons deprived of liberty (PPL) and some hadicapped people.
Next Sunday, the 40,718 polling stations arranged nationwide will be in charge of 34,813 police officers who will monitor and control the order and security during the elections.
Meanwhile, Javier Cordoba, Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs drawn attention to avoid alcoholic beverages to citizens, and respect the electoral silence which begins tonight at midnight, at the end of the election campaign.
Infringers who break the rules, unlike other occasions, will not be arrested, but the police will quote them with an order issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which will be judged at the Electoral Tribunal (TCE) .
