Alianza País has not yet decided whether there will be a new Labour Code or just reforms
Posted On 15 Oct 2014
In the coming days the bloc of Alianza País in the National Assembly will meet to discuss the direction they will take on the Labour Code. Lawmakers raised this question after President Rafael Correa noted that there will only be specific reforms and not a new proposal.
Among the items to be discussed on the Code are: collective employment, compensation of extra hours, job security, unionization by industry, monthly payment of the thirteenth and fourteenth bonuses (optional for private companies and mandatory for in the public sector), employer retirement, the creation of a single union of workers and reforms in terms of labour schedule.
On the thirteenth and fourteenth remuneration, the Executive proposes the monthly payment of them.
