Alvarado Did Not Spoke About HRW
The secretary of Communication of the Presidency, Fernando Alvarado, prefers not to speak too much over last Monday scandal. After the news published by the presidential newspaper El Ciudadano regarding his visit to Washington, USA .
According to the newspaper Alvarado said that the non-government organizations that he met with said “that they understood the reasons of the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa to go to court in the case El Universo and Big Brother case.”
One of the organizations mentioned was Human Rights Watch (HRW), questioned last Monday’s claims of Alvarado, when the reality is that HRW insisted that Ecuador must de-penalize and abstain from trialing those who express their critics.
Immediately after, El Ciudadano rectified his publication and clarified that some of the commentaries given were made through an official declaration of the Communication secretary in a casual meeting with other authorities of the government. Alvarado has tried to lower the tone of the scandal by saying that such information is false, and that he didn’t think like that. (AV)
