Alvaro Noboa Responded to Recent Statements by Carlos Marx

Today, in a press conference, Alvaro Noboa responded to recent statements made by Carlos Marx, Director of IRS, referring to the absence of Noboa in an appointment set to discuss the recovery of $ 90 million to Bananera Noboa in a gloss of the fiscal year 2005.

“I want to firmly clarify that I never left Carlos Marx Carrasco waiting ; I am agentleman and I am respectful of the authorities and the legislation and, therefore, we called him early to tell him that I am not a Bananera Noboa representative and because of this it was not proper my presence there as it was for representatives of Bananera Noboa and its lawyers to go there,” he said.

Noboa said the legal agent of the company, Dr. Fernando Alarcón, was the right person to initiate the dialogue with SRI on matters related to Bananera Noboa. Therefore, “it is unnecessary to mention my name publicly when talking about Bananera Noboa.”

Noboa explained that he had appeared the medias before just to denounce the fact that Bananera Noboa was receiving an unfair gloss because of a persecution against him.

“Bananera Noboa is being unfairly glossed and there is still the situation that there are 360 times more in the gloss for Bananera Noboa than for its competitors in the same year 2005 and every Ecuadorian have understood it very clearly and it is not possible to damage this large company that has given so much work for over 50 years,” he said.
