The attorney general of the nation, Galo Chiriboga, untied Rafael Quintero, former undersecretary of the Chancellery and now ambassador of Ecuador to Venezuela, from the “diplomatic pouch” case. The pouch contained drug that was seized by Italian authorities.
Rafael Quintero was the one who subscribed a regulation for the shipping of the pouch in 2011, for which he was sanctioned by the Comptroller.
“When the Comptroller began the audit, it was related to regulations to be taken for shipping (of the pouch), this affected the ambassador to Venezuela, but he filed a lawsuit and the court dismissed the sanction; he has no relation with this (…),” Galo Chiriboga said on Friday.
