AP members expect promptness in the processing of the 18 amendments draft
After 51 days, when the President of the Assembly Gabriela Rivadeneira submitted to the Constitutional Court (CC) a draft of 18 constitutional amendments, in the government´s block of Alianza PAIS movement (AP) is still expected promptness in the processing of this organism.
This sector is interested in the response of the CC because it wants that the change for the indefinite reelection of popular election authorities (president, vice president, assemblymen, mayors and others) can be applied in the general election of February 2017
Gaston Gagliardo, Assemblyman of AP, aspires that Judge Wendy Molina can expedite the treatment of the subject, while stating: “We are not going to put pressure”.
According to the Constitution, any electoral change should be made one year before the election and, although in AP some say that the limit to approve the draft in first debate is February 2015, others contend that the limit is October 2014.
