Apple Gets Partial Victory in Patent War Against HTC
Posted On 20 Dec 2011
Apple has partially won a legal patent battle against HTC after the International Trade Commission U.S. (ITC) ruled that the Taiwanese company infringed only one of the four patents filed in a lawsuit by its U.S. rival.
The U.S. commission have ruled that the importation of HTC phones that infringe the patent will be banned from April 19, 2012.
But Peter Toren, an intellectual property attorney, says it is a limited victory for Apple since HTC can import as many phones as it likes until April and “it gives HTC a long time for a change of design, which I understand they are already working on,” he added.
HTC said Monday that the ruling was a victory for them and said they planned to completely eliminate their mobile technology linked to the patent.
