Argentine Composer will bring sacred concert to Pope Francisco
Within the International Festival of Sacred Music and Art, to be held from October 29 to November 10, in several papal basilicas of Rome, the Argentine pianist and composer Martin Palmeri will present to the pope Francisco his tango-mass “Mass to Buenos Aires.”
“The figure of Pope Francisco in Argentina is very important and his election was a historical fact (…) For me it is a great honour to play the piano with this work before him,” said Palmeri , who will share credits with the choir of the Cologne Cathedral (Germany) .
The tango-mass, composed by Palmeri, was made entirely in Latin and is currently being performed in several countries in Europe and South America. The final product is a choral-symphonic composition with three accordions, strings and piano.
In this festival, held every year, have participated the best choirs in the world, most notably the Orchestra of the Rome Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic .
