Assembly installed the new Comptroller General
Xavier Mauricio Torres Maldonado was formally installed as the new comptroller general of the State.

Xavier Mauricio Torres Maldonado was formally installed as the new comptroller general of the State.
He will be in office for five years. He is now the head of that entity after, since 2017, the Comptroller’s Office operated with surrogate authorities.
He was sworn in on November 28, 2023, during a session of the National Assembly. Henry Kronfle, president of the Legislature, administered the oath to Comptroller Mauricio Torres.
The new Comptroller was the one who achieved the highest score in the merit and opposition contest carried out by the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (Cpccs).
During his speech, Torres said that he will face challenges, but that he will raise the standards of the entity’s oversight.
“This position represents the cornerstone of my commitment to good governance and efficient oversight of the resources that citizens expect from public officials,” said the head of the control entity.
“By assuming this responsibility, they can trust that the State Comptroller General’s Office will be the vanguard in the fight against corruption and the diversion of public funds,” added the new official.
