Assembly raises the reserve on documents of Gabela case

The National Assembly, with 103 affirmative votes, approved the lifting of the reservation of all documents related to the case of the murder of the former general Jorge Gabela and the purchase of the DHRUV helicopters.
The Legislative also urged the Government to lift the reservation that includes the contract between the expert Roberto Meza and the Ministry of Justice. It also approved the creation of the Multiparty Occasional Commission to deal with these issues.
This commission will resume the investigation and after the respective study will present the report and recommend, if appropriate, the initiation of legal actions.
It is expected that this commission will be integrated in the next session of the Plenary. In the Assembly, several legislators delivered their opinions on the subject. The parliamentary María José Carrión assured that it is the duty of the National Assembly to gather all the information related to the death of former General Gabela and the purchase of helicopters.
Legislator Jeannine Cruz said that the Oversight Commission dealt with the issue of the DHRUV but the death of Gabela was not investigated. (I)
