Assembly will analyze Executive Law on Electric Power

The Organic Law draft of the Public Electricity Service came to the Assembly and will be analyzed since this week. The initiative came from the Vice Presidency of the Government.

Among the various changes that the Economic Development Commission raises, there is the creation of the Agency for the Regulation and Control of Electricity.

The tasks of the organism will be overseeing the technical, economic and operational aspects of electricity distribution. It will also define the tariff schedules for payment by consumption.

The Electric Power Operator will be another organism that “will manage and settle transactions commercially” (international and wholesale sector).

In the same way, the text of the Executive includes the regulation of public, private and mixed companies operating with public service, and sets parameters for the declaration of “public utility” of certain goods related to electrical energy.
