AP would make a reelection reform through the Assembly
Alianza PAIS (AP) expects to approve a constitutional reelection reform for the presidential position and other charges, taking advantage from the legislative majority that possesses as a block.
Yesterday afternoon, the block held a workshop on the Training Center of the Comptroller, with the purpose to reach a resolution on the subject.
Inside Alianza PAIS there are coincidences between the members of the party in doing an amendment that takes about a year and does not require a referendum. According to the Constitution, to achieve this, it is required 92 votes in favor in a plenary session of the Assembly,
Also, indefinite reelection was discarded, thus, remain as options, consecutive reelection or reelection skipping over a period.
Meanwhile, President Rafael Correa stated yesterday that all possibilities are open on this issue, and pointed out that even if an “amendment” is done, he would not discard a referendum.
