The Parliamentary Group for Inclusion, Massification, and Strengthening of Sports was officially presented to the Legislature on August 23, 2017. “This Group seeks to promote culture, sports practices and a consensual proposal for the integral reform of the Sports Law,” according to Minister Andrea Sotomayor, who attended the act.

The event featured the remarkable presence of Jefferson Perez, the best Ecuadorian athlete in history and owner of the only two Olympic medals won by the country. He even gave a speech and told authorities that the best decoration is to opportunities. As part of the solemn session, sports decorations were awarded to Kira Diaz (kick boxing), Peter Hurtado (taekwondo), Kevin Manzano (Special Olympics athlete), among others. (I)
