Atlético Madrid eliminates FC Barcelona from Champions League

Atletico Madrid today was classified for the semifinals of the Champions League football for the first time in 40 years by beating FC Barcelona 1-0.

In only 18 minutes, Atletico accumulated three shots to the post and one goal. The goal came in six minutes and was followed by a shot against the post of Adrian, substitute for Diego Costa. Gerardo Martino’s team was far from scoring due to local early goal.

Only Neymar had remarkable actions of his team in the first time with two shots of Lionel Messi in their only appearances to try to help their peers. The Argentine did not participate in most of the game.

With the final whistle came the explosion of the Vicente Calderon. Now the team of Diego Simeone will have to think in the Cup final within a week and in the local league.
