Baby Gorilla from the Safari Park Zoo in San Diego, was born by caesarean

It was the first time that Imani, an 18 years old gorilla, gave birth, so after several complications, the zoo veterinarian proceed with the cesarean section

On Wednesday night, a 18 years old gorilla gave birth by caesarean section with the help of veterinarians from the zoo and neonatal specialists of the Medical Center at the University of California, in San Diego.

It is the first time in the history of this zoo to that this kind of surgery is performed to a gorilla.

Christina Simmons, zoo spokesman, said that the prognosis of the mother is reserved after complications during childbirth.
