Bahrain Opposition is Under Attack
Posted On 23 Dec 2011
Security forces shot rubber bullets and tear gas to the headquarters of Bahrain main Shia opposition in the capital Manama. Police officers used tear gas to disperse hundreds of opposition supporters while trying to protest elsewhere in the capital.
This Friday was the latest encounter in 10 months of unrest between Bahrain’s Sunni monarchy and an opposition movement led by the country’s majority Shias. Their protests come from years of discrimination.
A report was released last month; the document stated that the security forces would be held accountable for the use of excessive force. (AV)
