Pedro Delgado dropped the lawsuit against Mantilla

Posted On 23 Dec 2011

After Jaime Mantilla Anderson, director of Daily Hoy was sentenced to three months in prison and a $25 fine due to defamation claims. However, this morning the plaintiff, Pedro Delgado, the current president of Central Bank, withdrew of the trial against him.

Through a press release, Delgado announced that he dismissed his lawsuit against Mantilla and asked him to rectify and “that he should never again freely attempt with political reasons the honor of people.”

Mantilla was tried after the publication of articles, “The good cousin of the president’s back”, “Delgado signed before possession”, “Delgado on trial for a memo,” “The expert who did not escape the Credit Risk”; among others, on the supplement Black and White of Daily Hoy, in the months of September and October 2009.

After being sentenced, and this being an appealable ruling, the newspaper said today that they will use the legal tools necessary for his defense and freedom of expression.
