Banking sector: Employees who earn over 1,000 per month

Posted On 04 May 2016

BANCA-ECUADORTIMES-ECUADORNEWSWorkers in the banking and finance; communication and technology sectors; and those working in the area of mass consumption will be the ones who contribute more to rebuild the areas affected by the earthquake.

This is evidenced by the research firm AMS Andean Ecuador, on the measures outlined in the Solidarity and Citizen´s Co-responsability bill proposed due to the effects of the earthquake, which yesterday passed the first debate in the plenary.

The bill proposes, among other measures, that natural persons under a labor relationship who earn an equal or greater monthly salary than USD 1 000 contribute with a day or more of their salary, according to a table (see chart). According to the survey of AMS Andean Ecuador, which collects data from 371 private companies in the country, 32% of workers earn USD 1 000 or more. And more than half of these employees belong to banking and finance, communications and technology sectors (including mobile telephony) and consumer goods.
