Baños attracts more tourist investors

Investments in new tourism projects in Baños, Ecuador, come from the public and private sectors. According to the mayor of Tungurahua Canton Marlon Guevara, in the last four years, nearly USD 150 million has been invested in the construction of hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, recreational centers, infrastructure for practicing extreme sports, as well as improvements.
Guevara explains that this figure comes from the analysis made on road and infrastructure development works provided by the City Hall, in addition to projects submitted.
A study by the Tourism Directorate of the City Council details that until last year there were 170 accommodation businesses. At present, ten new hotels are in the process of obtaining the operating permits by the Ministry and the Tourism Directorate. (I)
